주님은 우리의 믿음을 위해 그리하십니다. 예수님께서는 사랑하시는 나사로가 병들었다는 소식을 들으시고도 그 계시던 곳에 이틀을 더 머무시다가 나사로가 죽은 후에 다시 유대로 가셨습니다 . 나사로의 동생이 마리아와 마르다의 입장에서는 예수님이 속히 오셔서 오빠인 나사로가 죽지 않도록 그의 병을 치유해 주시길 간절히 원했을텐데 예수님은 그리하지 않으셨습니다 . 그 이유는 예수님의 제자들로 하여금 예수님을 믿도록 하기 위해서였습니다 ( 요한복음 11:1-15). 주님께서는 우리의 믿음을 위해서 우리가 간절히 기도하는 대로 속히 응답을 하지 않으시고 주님의 뜻을 주님의 때에 주님의 방법으로 하십니다 .
