진노를 돌이키지 않으신 하나님 니느웨 왕과 백성들이 자신들의 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠났을 때 하나님께서는 그들에게 내리리라고 말씀하신 재앙의 뜻을 돌이키셨습니다 ( 욘 3:10). 그러나 하나님께서는 므낫세 왕이 행한 모든 악 때문에 유다에 대한 분노를 돌이키지 않으셨습니다 ( 왕하 23:26, 현대인의 성경 ). 비록 유다 왕 요시야와 같이 마음을 다하여 뜻을 다하며 힘을 다하여 모세의 모든 율법을 따라 하나님께로 돌이킨 왕은 요시야 전에도 없었고 후에도 그와 같은 자가 없었지만 하나님께서는 유다를 향하여 내리신 그 크게 타오르는 진노를 돌이키지 않으셨습니다 ( 왕하 23:25, 26). 하나님 아버지께서는 죄도 없으신 독생자 예수님에게 우리의 모든 죄를 다 걸머지시게 하시고 십자가에 죽게 하셨을 때 모든 진노를 돌이키지 않으시고 아들 예수님에게 모든 진노를 다 쏟아부셨습니다 .
