Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 만일 복음을 전하다가 순교하는 은혜와 축복을 누리게 된다면 ... 예수님께서 십자가에 죽으실 때에 " 아버지 , 저 사람들을 용서해 주십시오 . 저들은 자기들이 하는 일을 모르고 있습니다 " 와 " 아버지 , 내 영혼을 아버지 손에 맡깁니다 " 라고 말씀을 하시고 숨을 거두셨습니다 ( 누가복음 23:34, 46, 현대인의 성경 ). 스데반은 " 주 예수님 , 내 영혼을 받으소서 " 와 " 주님 , 이 죄를 저들에게 돌리지 마소서 " 라고 말한 후 숨을 거두었습니다 ( 사도행전 7:59-60, 현대인의 성경 ). 하나님의 뜻이라면 저도 예수 그리스도의 복음을 전하다가 순교하는 은혜와 축복을 누릴 때 예수님처럼 , 또한 예수님을 본받은 스데반처럼 성령충만하여 그러한 기도를 주님께 드리고 잠들 수 있길 기원합니다 .
