For some of us, it’s been a while. In our hard-working, highly productive culture, we can sometimes feel like exhausted swimmers swept downstream in a fast-moving river, fighting to keep our heads above water, gasping for air. We get up early and stay up late. We never waste a minute. Our schedule is full, running here, running there, running late, running to catch up, running on empty, until we collapse in utter exhaustion. Underneath the satisfaction of being hard-working, hard-playing people is a weariness that’s desperate for the pace to relent so we can rest and recharge. Deep down, we’re dying to slow down and take a break. We keep telling ours...
하나님의 일하심은 우리의 지성으로는 도무지 이해가 안 될수도 있습니다. 아니, 어떻게 하나님께서는 하나님의 종 엘리야의 말을 듣고 순종하여 하나님의 기적을 경험한 사르밧 과부에게 하나 밖에 없는 아들이 죽는 위기를 허락하실 수 있습니까(열왕기상 17장 13-24절). 하나님의 기적을 경험한 후에 더 큰 기적이 없다할지라도 적어도 아무 재앙이 없어야하지 않나요. 어쩌면 하나님께서는 그러한 위기를 통해서 우리의 죄를 생각나게 하시길 원하실 수도 있습니다(18절). 그 정도로 우리는 우리의 삶 속에 위기가 없이는 우리의 죄를 생각하지 못하는가 봅니다. 어쩌면 하나님께서는 그러한 위기를 통해서 우리가 하나님께 부르짖기를 원하실 수도 있습니다(19-21절). 그 정도로 우리는 우리의 삶 속에 위기가 없이는 하나님께 부르짖지 않는 것 같습니다. 어쩌면 하나님께서는 그러한 위기를 통해서 하나님께서 우리의 기도를 응답해 주신다는 것과 하나님의 종과 하나님의 말씀의 진실성을 깨닫게 하시려는 것 같습니다(22-24절).
