We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). While meditating on this passage, I would like to draw out the lessons given to us: (1) The author of Luke’s Gospel, Luke, first wrote to Theophilus about John the Baptist’s parents. 제자도의 값을 지불하라 ! (눅14:29; 고후12:9) 구원은 하나님의 은혜로 받았지만 구원 받은 자로서 제자의 삶을 살아가기 위해선 값을 치뤄야 합니다 . 그러나 너무나 많은 크리스천들이 제자도의 값을 지불하기 싫어합니다 . 그 결과 믿음의 기초만 쌓게 되므로 ( 눅 14:29) 이런 저런 사단의 유혹에 쉽게 넘어가 하나님께 죄를 범하는 삶을 살아가게 되거나 세상 사람들로부터 비웃음을 사는 크리스천으로 살게 되는 것입니다 ( 눅 14:29). 이렇게 많은 크리스천들이 세상 사람들의 조롱과 비웃음거리가 될 수 밖에 없는 이유는 제자도의 값을 지불하지 않았기 때문입니다 . 그러므로 우리는 예수님의 제자로서 제자도의 값을 지불해야 합니다 . 우리 각자가 자신의 십자가를 지고 예수님을 좇아야 할 것입니다 . 마음의 십자가 또는 삶의 십자가 없이 그저 장식용 십자가만 지니고 교회를 들락날락해서는 제자도의 값을 지불할 수 없습니다 . 우리는 우리를 제자 만드시는 예수님 발 앞 에 없드려 그의 음성을 들어야 합니다 . 그리고 제자도의 값을 지불하기 위하여 하나님의 족한 은혜를 구해야 할 것입니다 . 다시 말하면 , 나의 연약함에서 온전해지는 하나님의 능력을 구해야 하는 것입니다 ( 고후 12:9). 우리는 복음의 소망을 가지고 그 복음을 위해서 기꺼이 희생할 각오가 되어 있어야 할 것입니다 .
